The essentials
NXTA Flow runs this site and employs nobody who listens to pipes. AcousticLeak takes a description and a ZIP code and puts an independent contractor on the line. Where it describes leak forgiveness, it is quoting a scheme a utility publishes about itself.

The subject, narrowly
AcousticLeak is a referral service operated by NXTA Flow. We connect homeowners with independent contractors for water leak detection and the repairs that follow it.
The site is small deliberately. The coverage page sets out why there are no town pages on it.
Where the material comes from
Two published municipal programs carry the part of this site that states anything, and both are named and linked on every page that uses them:
- New York City Department of Environmental Protection, Leak Forgiveness Program — the 120-day window, the 200 percent threshold, the half-forgiven calculation with its floor, the two-year lookback and the 180-day extension.
- City of Oregon City, Oregon, Water Leak Policy and Adjustment Application — the meter-registering-with-no-water test, the once-in-24-months limit, the two months of overage at half the water distribution rate, and the two dates a written request must carry.
They are quoted because they contradict each other. That contradiction is the point: it is why this site tells you to look up your own rather than handing you somebody else’s terms.
What it deliberately leaves out
Where a source would not support a claim, the claim is not made. There is no detection accuracy figure on this site, no price anywhere, and no average leak volume. Those three gaps have their own page rather than being left silent.

If it is yours, come back and we will route you to a local contractor who can find it, chosen on the ZIP code you give. We never charge you either way. Nor must it be a leak: whatever the plumbing is doing, this number reaches somebody.
